This area consists of 5 Operating Theatres, Day Surgery, Recovery Care Unit, Pre Admission Clinicand a Central Sterilising Unit.
Our Surgical patients are assessed through the pre admission clinic either by a face to face appointment or via telephone prior to their admission.
On the day of surgery patients are admitted through the day surgery unit, transferred to the operating suite and recovered following surgery in the post anaesthetic recovery unit.
From here patients are either discharged home from the day surgery unit or transferred to an inpatient bed for further recovery.
The decision as to whether patients require a day only admission or an overnight stay is made by the treating surgeon and is dependent on the type of procedure.
