Once we receive your referral, we’ll contact you to arrange a time for your first treatment. Your specialist will tell you if you need to take a premedication before your intravenous therapy.

When you arrive for your appointment, head to Admissions and book in.

We strive to start your appointment on time, however from time to time there may be unforeseen disruptions and delays that affect your appointment. We apologise for this and thank you in advance for your understanding.

To make you feel as relaxed as possible you’ll have a comfortable chair and pillow, a blanket to keep you warm, a TV to watch, access to free Wi-Fi and light refreshments and drinks.

Our nurses will support you during your appointment and throughout your entire journey with us. They’ll talk you through any side affects you may experience and options to help manage them.

With your consent, we’ll work with your specialist to create an individual treatment plan for you.

If you have any questions or need advice about the medications you’re taking for treatment, you can talk to our Medical Oncology Pharmacist at HPS Pharmacy. They will also talk you through your discharge medications. Call 02 8808 7070.

The nursing team, in collaboration with your specialist, are available to discuss any side effects that you may encounter.

There are many options to help control side effects of your treatment.

If you’ve been diagnosed with breast cancer, we can connect you with a McGrath Breast Care Nurse Care Consultant. They’ll work with you, your family and medical teams to provide additional care and support during your treatment.

You’ll have access to Dignicap, a scalp cooling system that aims to minimise hair loss from certain chemotherapy treatments.
