Sydney Southwest Private Hospital’s Maternity Unit is counted amongst the leaders in providing individualised, professional and friendly obstetric care to women throughout Sydney’s Southwest.
Our experienced maternity staff along with our Obstetricians and Paediatricians work together to ensure that all our patients and new families receive the highest standard of care.
Our maternity staff is experienced and competent to care for you during your stay and are dedicated to ensuring your first few days as a parent are supported and focused on your individual needs.
They are able to assist you during the antenatal period of your pregnancy, the birth of your baby, your postnatal period and any parenting education that you may require.
If you are happy to proceed with your booking, we can arrange for you to attend our next pre-admission clinic.
To find out details of when you can tour, or to book into a pre-admission clinic please call us on 02 9600 4386.
We encourage your baby to stay with you at all times, but should your baby require specialised medical assistance the baby will be admitted to the special care nursery.
At Sydney Southwest Private Hospital, we have a Level 2 Special Care Nursery with the latest equipment and staffed with specialised neonatal midwives and paediatricians so your baby will have the best care possible.
If you haven’t already made a time to tour our unit, why not arrange to visit us and view our facilities?
It will also be a great opportunity for you to meet some of our midwives and get a feel of how comfortable we will make your stay.
Our maternity ward is a secure ward.
As all doors are locked, visitors must identify themselves in order to gain entry at each entrance.
Newborn babies must at all times have two name tags on, they are usually securely attached to each ankle.
These bands are placed on the baby immediately following his/her birth.

Your partner is welcome
The support of your partner is so important, so we have a double bed or comfortable folding bed, to accommodate overnight stays. If your partner does spend the night, your baby will room-in with the two of you, encouraging bonding and building parenting skills.
Please note that if you are to undergo a caesarean section, you’ll be allocated a single bed for your comfort and recovery. Once you are mobile, you’ll be moved to a double bed.
Visitor restrictions due to COVID-19
For the protection of women, babies and staff, restrictions have been placed on support persons and visitors.
Women will be able to have one support person with them, for additional support during their labour and birth. When you move to the Maternity Suites, one support person can visit along with your partner.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, children may not visit at this time.
Due to COVID-19 restrictions, grandparents may not visit at this time.
